Workstation Minimum Specifications:

All workstations earmarked to run the system should have the following minimum specifications:

• A PC Core 2 Duo.

• 1 GB RAM.

• 2 GB Hard disk free space.

• Windows XP Pro SP3 Operating System.

Dedicated SmartButler^® Server Minimum Specifications:

• A Dedicated Server PC Intel Xeon CPU 2 GHz.

• 4 GB RAM.

• 200 GB Hard disk capacity.

• Fixed IP address installed with popular VPN software in order to allow us remote access for an on-line support. In the event that a client needs to be installed by JAYBEE for the purpose of remote connection over fixed IP, this client should be sent together with all associated written material as early as possible.

• Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 Operating System - English Version.

• If cellular modem is to be used (see Cellular Messaging and DECT vs. Cellular for more information), the PC should have a COM port available.

• Must be located in a computer room.

• Always Internet connected.

• Installation of VNC Server (& Viewer to allow access to other workstations).

• Should have automatic updates from third party vendors (especially Microsoft) turned OFF.

pcAnywhere Installation:

This is critical for JAYBEE to be able to provide remote support to the system. No system can be installed without this.

• To be installed on SmartButler® Server.

• Version 12.5 or higher.

• Configured as 'Host waiting for connection' via network.

• Configured "Host" operation on Windows Start up.

Antivirus Software:

It is required that a recognised anti-virus software be deployed to run on the network and on each workstation where the system is installed. This anti-virus software should be regularly updated to ensure that is running the most current protections distributed by the manufacturer.

Telephone Line Redirections – THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT:

It will be necessary to redirect calls from guest rooms to the Guest Service Centre for those departments whose calls will be routed via the GSC. A new special phone line should be dedicated for that purpose. Arrangements for the redirection of these calls should be made prior to the installation of the system, and the relevant engineer should be available at the time of the installation program to make the necessary changes to the PBX. This action should be planned in such a way that it will take no longer than 2-3 hours.
