JAYBEE Systems, the developer
of the hotel Guest Service Centre Software - SmartButler®, has
announced the launch of SQL database operation.
SmartButler® is now able to
work with the most popular SQL engines such as Oracle, MS SQL,
Sybase and Interbase. Installing proper clients on existing
SmartButler® workstations and the provision of login, password
and and table space by DBAs will allow SmartButler® to migrate an
existing database to the SQL product easily, efficiently and
smoothly.
SQL operation has several
significant advantages. Firstly, data storage is unified for all
applications and not separated in different engines. Secondly,
SmartButler® performance is improved. In addition, greater
stability is achieved in maintenance, backup and rollback.
Finally, SQL operation can relieve of the necessity to be
connected to the physical network of a site.
Following the completion of
the first Oracle installation, Mr. Joseph Ron, Managing Director
of JAYBEE Systems said that SmartButler® has proved to be an
application flexible enough to work with several engines.
"Despite the good performance of SmartButler® with the existing
engine (Paradox), this new development has become an essential
tool for those of our customers who use SmartButler® more
intensively, and are challenged by the management of large
databases. We are proud to confirm that SmartButler®'s generic
database module (BDE) has proven its accessibility to a large
spectrum of database containers, with no logic modification and
minimum code changing.
Access to the new SQL
database capability is offered to those users of SmartButler® who
have valid Support and Maintenance Agreements with JAYBEE.
