MS-SQL Express database to become new
default standard.
JAYBEE Systems,
the developer of the hotel Guest Service Centre Software
SmartButler®, has announced the launch of a new version of SmartButler® that incorporates an MS-SQL database as
standard.
The new version
works on MS-SQL Express which requires no extra cost for
database licenses or configuration. The transfer of data from
the current local database to the new MS-SQL database is quick,
secure and entirely transparent to the customer. Although this
version is launched in addition to the versions using a local
database and Oracle SQL database, the MS-SQL version of
SmartButler® will become the default for new installations in
the future. In addition, customers currently using the local
database version will be encouraged to migrate to the new MS-SQL
version over time.
The new version
provides the ability to install a pure SQL client version
without need to configure a shared drive on the network. In
addition to the new database, the new version of SmartButler®
also contains new advanced technology for report generation.
This will allow customers to continue to work on SmartButler®
whilst complex reports are being generated by the system.
Mr Joseph Ron,
JAYBEE's Managing Director, said that migration to MS-SQL is an
important step forward for SmartButler®. “By migrating to the
MS-SQL platform, we can provide the latest database technology
to all our customers as a built-in feature and without extra
cost. This is an important step towards launching of a
web-based version of SmartButler®. The first web modules
will be released during the second half of 2009,” he said.
