JAYBEE Announces Launch of SmartMessaging over Internet

SmartButler^® messages can now be routed to and from mobile phone handsets via an Internet connection, increasing the feature set of the messaging module.

JAYBEE Systems, the developer of the hotel Guest Service Centre Software SmartButler^®, has announced the launch of SmartMessaging over Internet (SMI). This is an addition to the existing SMS-based messaging module, and takes advantage of the latest developments in mobile phone connectivity. SMI can be used by any hotel which uses mobile phone handsets that connect to the Internet using either a WiFi or GPRS connection.

The effect of using SMI is that handsets are essentially connected to SmartButler^®, on a permanent basis. This means that the information held on the handset can be kept updated and all times, and fully synchronised with SmartButler^®. In addition, SMI displays some features of SMS messages by notifying the holder of the handset when a new call has arrived to be taken care of. Using SMI in conjunction with the JAYBEE Java application for mobile phones will provide users with the most up-to-date messaging capabilities available.

The benefits of SMI stretch to SmartButler^® operators as well. With the direct connection between the system and mobile phone handsets, operators are able to determine which handsets are online at all times. They can also see very easily which messages have been read by the recipients, and which have yet to be read. All of this means more efficient use of the system, and better quality service to guests.

The cost of SMI will be cheaper in most cases due to the fact that fixed-price data packages on phones will replace the variable costs associated with SMS messages. This also makes cost control and budgeting a great deal easier.
